Stryker Hip Recall

In June 2012, Stryker recalled the Rejuvenate and ABG II modular-neck stems for two reasons. First, it was found these models had fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction, which can cause the release of metal debris into the joint, resulting in ALTR (adverse local tissue reactions), which can cause swelling and pain. Second, these him implants can become unstable and require a second (revision) surgery.

Stryker Hip Health Risks

Metal debris may cause swelling, inflammation, pain, tissue death and bone loss. This metal hip, like the Depuy hips, have been shown to cause metallosis, which can be a very serious health risk. You may be required to undergo a second surgery, called a revision surgery, to have the defective hip removed.
